American Teletimer® Corporation History

For your information, we offer the following chronicle of our company. It briefly describes our computer, COLOR, electronic imaging Teletimer® Photo Finish system, our Teletimer® timing systems and our CCTV service and production capabilities which are the equipment and services that we presently provide. We hope that this information might be of help to you in evaluating the establishing of a business relationship.

American Teletimer Corp. was founded in 1938 in New York City. The sole business of our company at that time was to provide the first accurate, dependable electronic timing system to thoroughbred and standardbred racetracks, displaying fractional and finish times on a Teletimer® wing(s) of the tote board.

Our first client in 1938 was Pimlico Race Course. Over the years our client list has grown to approximately eighty (80) racetracks across the United States and Canada. Please see our client list for specifics.

American Teletimer Corp. is the originator of automatic, electronic racetrack timing systems and our systems are the standard for the industry. Our U.S. registered trademark, Teletimer®, is synonymous with racetrack timing. Teletimer® timing systems have the capability to accurately provide fractional and finish times (in 1/5ths, 1/10ths or 1/100ths of a second) for any distance race on dirt or turf tracks including an unlimited number of turf course lanes. Times are and always have been accurately reported, not estimated nor produced.

In early 1987, American Teletimer Corp. expanded its operations to include photo finish services with our new division, Teletimer® Photo Finish. The first clients of Teletimer® Photo Finish were Maryland's thoroughbred racetracks, Laurel, Pimlico and Timonium. Since that time we have added approximately seventy (70) racetracks to our list of photo finish clients (please see our client list for specifics) and refer you to any or all of them for further references as we have received very favorable comments from management and racing officials on the quality of our work. We are proud of the fact  that Teletimer® timing systems and Teletimer® Photo Finish systems are employed to electronically time and record the photo finish, by means of its digital image line scan system, the "Triple Crown" (Kentucky Derby, Preakness & Belmont Stakes) events.

Our Teletimer® Photo Finish color electronic imaging photo finish system employs both a main and auxiliary color linear CCD cameras for extraordinary resolution and reliability. For night racing, no additional lighting is required beyond adequate photo finish lights. The Teletimer® Photo Finish system will display the finish of races on both a high resolution SVGA computer monitor for the judges and broadcast quality NTSC, allowing for viewing on your in house CCTV, enhancing TV production capabilities.

For ease of operation the Teletimer® Photo Finish system is based an icon driven Windows 98® or Windows NT® CPU. It is extremely user friendly. It alleviates the need for specially trained photographic personnel and no dark room is required. It can be integrated with our Teletimer® timing system and will then display finish times for all horses in 1/10ths, 1/100ths or 1/1000ths of a second.

We also wish to note that our color electronic imaging Teletimer® Photo Finish system has already been approved and are in use at pari-mutuel racing facilities in approximately thirty (30) states.

American Teletimer Corp. believes in employing the largest focal length and fastest F stop lenses suitable for each individual installation. By adhering to this method we achieve the largest, proper sized image on the computer monitor photographically for the clearest possible picture. The computer enlargement provision in our Photo Finish program is then only used for close finishes where enlargement is required.

All electronic imaging photo finish systems and how they are implemented and serviced are not performed with equal quality and need to be evaluated on the specific merits of each system and company. In that regard, we encourage you to check our references (see enclosed client list). Most importantly, Teletimer® Photo Finish, our Teletimer® timing systems and our CCTV systems are products and services of American Teletimer Corp. whose reputation for excellence since 1938 speaks for itself.
